Perennials Are Great Additions to Any Garden

By Peter Finch Ever wondered why your plants flowered so beautifully for some time and now all you have left are leaves? The reason is simple. There are some plants that are seasonal and there are others that are not. Plants which are long lasting are called perennials. In this case it refers to plants that live for two years or more. Typically, perennial plants will flower once or more than once in a growing year but it depends on the variety that has been planted. The blooming period can be as short as week or as long as a month. This can be stretched if the wilted flowers are pruned regularly. June is considered a good month for planting your perennials. Ensure that you are not going to transplant these for some years. Mulching is very necessary after planting as it helps promote growth, keep the moisture in, and prevents the fast growth of weeds. If your perennials have grown over the year then June is the right month to trim the height to promote growth and flowering. These plants have some specific characteristics that classify them as perennial. There are herbaceous perennial plants that have no woody tissue and then there are those that have a wood base from which the flowers and leaves sprout. Among perennials we have the monocarpic perennial that blooms once and dies. Then there is the polycarpic variety which flowers many times in its life span. The climate influences the growth of such plants. If you are in a place where the climate is generally warm, your plants will grow and flower almost continuously. If you stay in a place where the seasons are clearly demarcated by change in temperature then even your plants will behave the same way. Deciduous perennials are those whose leaves die back in the winter months and they flower in the warmer times of the year. These are found in temperate regions and some of the commonly known plants are mint and goldenrod. In places where the seasons are categorized as rainy and dry, these plants retain their foliage for the entire period and are classified as evergreens. Begonia and banana are two popular examples of this variety. There are a lot of plants that people grow because they last well and look good for a large part of the year. Annual plants are technically plants which are grown outdoors, germinate, bloom and die once a year. Some of these are the wax begonia, the snapdragons, petunias, pelargonium, impatiens, coleus, tomato, bell peppers and sweet potatoes. People grow perennials as annuals more for convenience. The Nepata or Walkers Low are gorgeous blue violet flowers with beautiful grey green foliage and this variety has been given the Perennial Plant of the Year 2007 award by the Perennial Plant Association. One of the most attractive features of this plant is that it is low maintenance, simple to grow and fairly immune to plant health problems. Job Search Victim Or Professional?

By Paul Megan We had an uncomfortable job search strategy session with Keely a few weeks ago. She sounded desperate. She had met some unexpected resistance in interviews . . . two in a row. Turns out prospective employers were questioning her about how her background could possibly fit into their organization. She clutched. She stumbled. She came away from the interview feeling totally defeated. Of course, this colored her enthusiasm for continuing her job search. Keelys story is not unique. It happens to all of us in one way or another--especially when were looking for a job. The question is: how you respond to it? Are you going to be a victim or a professional? 1. Youre a victim if you start putting yourself down. Youre a professional if you acknowledge that theres something you need to learn so this doesnt happen again. 2. Youre a victim if you blame the employer for failing to see how good you are. Youre a professional if you take the time to understand what an employers needs are. 3. Youre a victim if you throw in the towel because youre discouraged. Youre a professional if you pick up the pieces and move forward to the next encounter. 4. Youre a victim if you let your friends make excuses for you. Youre a professional if you ask your friends to practice with you so you can do better the next time. 5. Youre a victim if you get angry and just give up. Youre a professional if you understand why you would be angry. And then get over it ands move on toward your goal. Finding a job is never easy. There are plenty of bumps in the road that can discourage you. On the other hand, there are wonderful strategies and techniques that can get you past the bumps and turn you into a job search professional. When you determine to take the professional approach no matter how many obstacles come your way, youve dramatically moved the odds in your favor. And you WILL get a great job offer! Signature Brand: Effective Personal Branding

By Jan Verhoeff Name recognition brings back memories. People will remember an individuals name before they remember the name of their business. This simple fact can gain your business recognition, and give your business the Brand Identity necessary to move into profitability. So, whats your name? Is it brandable? Do you have a signature that captures the eye? Is there balance, fortitude, and self gratification in your signature? The list goes on How many people do you know who recognize your name? What does it mean? Can you identify a thousand people who recognize your name? By the time most of us reach thirty, there are at least a thousand people in our circle of acquaintances. Of that one thousand people, most know your name, few know what you do, and even fewer have any idea what your business is. On the Internet, recognition is power. The impact of name recognition on a product, or even simply the use of a personal name on a product can get your product into the market with power-charged identification. Whether your name is highly recognized or not, your signature has value. Everyone in this generation knows who John Elway is, and why his name is scrawled across the sign of an auto dealership in Denver, but just down the road a piece is another dealership, Phil Long. I may be nuts, but I dont remember who the heck Phil Long is. But to me, his signature on the sign says he stands behind his product. Whether he was a football player, or a third base man make me no never-mind, but I feel confident walking under his sign and selecting a vehicle from the lot, because I know theres a real person backing up the product. How do I know? His signature is on the sign. Ive never met him. Maximize the Recognition Factor of your Signature Brand. Sign your name on your product. Paul Newman does it. John Wayne did it. Our money is stamped with a name, and the most effective means of transporting information is a signed document. Stamp your Identity on your Business and maximize the recognition factor of name Identification. What is the Bar V? Ill share it with you in The Branding Iron. How to Make Your Career Resolutions Stick

By Dr. Robert Karlsberg A recent study by executive search firm Korn-Ferry revealed that 70% of executives plan to make a career related New Years resolution. Yet experience shows that more than 80% of them will be significantly off-track before the end of the first quarter. Why? Distraction -- the number one enemy of success. Here are some tips to beat the odds and make your resolutions stick this year: Set Inspiring Long-term Goals. Short-term objectives are fine, but dont often provide the necessary inspiration to stay the course. Keep in mind this classic quote from Napoleon Hills, Think and Grow Rich, "The starting point of all achievement is desire... Weak desires bring weak results, just as a small amount of fire makes a small amount of heat." Create a Path. Even the best goal-setting system isnt enough. You need specific action steps to follow. When you create a blueprint for your objectives, you give yourself a path to run on. If you get sidetracked, as you undoubtedly will, its simple to pick up and restart where you left off. Link Your Activities to Your Goals. Identify your top priorities in every area of your life: career, family, health, friends etc. Then link all of your activities to your goals. Goal-directed behavior is what enables successful people to achieve their objectives in record time. Stop Multi-Tasking. As management guru Peter Drucker said, If there is one secret of effectiveness, it is concentration. Focus single-mindedly on one thing at a time. By simply doing this, you can reduce the amount of time you need to complete any task by 50-80 percent. Use Technology Efficiently. Technology is great when it enhances productivity, but it can also become a major distraction. Remember, cell phones, e-mail and the Internet, were designed to be used as tools. Dont let them become your master. Beware of the Open Door. Of course, you need to be accessible at work; but you also need to maintain control of your accessibility. An open door policy only works well if you set time limits and stick to them. Your time is your most valuable resource. If you allow others free use of it, youll pay a steep price in stress and lost productivity. Manage Information and Idea Overload. Every day youre bombarded with more information than you can possibly handle in a week. One key to managing it is to be very selective about what gets your attention now, and what you save for later. Link your reading, viewing and listening activities to your goals as much as possible. And always keep a notebook or voice recorder handy, so you can manage ideas and potentially profit from them later.

Be Careful - Read Everything!

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Jim_Hogan] Jim Hogan Did you know that there are over 1600 prescription medications. Out of the top 150 medications that are prescribed most often, 8 of them start with the letter Z. Zanaflex short term management of spasticity
Zantac short term treatment of duodenal ulcer
Zelnorm for women with irritable bowel syndrome
Zestril a heart medication
Zetia reduces cholesterol
Zitromax treatment of infection from pneumonia
Zocur reduces cholesterol
Zypresza treatment for schizophrenia Dont forget about Xanax (sounds like a Z) controls anxiety. How easy would it be to get any of these confused with another? What if you go to your doctor, and he gives you the wrong prescription? You may have a claim against your doctor, but you may not be alive to pursue it. I wrote another article The #1 Rule in Boxing Protect Yourself at All Times. This Rule applies whenever you are dealing with prescription medication. It is very easy for a physician to make a mistake and just as easy for the pharmacy to make a mistake in dispensing the medication. Make sure you get a copy of your office visit with your physician. Read youre your prescription form before you leave the doctors office. Make a copy of the prescription form and add it to your medical records file. Make sure you read the label on the bottle that the pharmacy gives you. If you are having any problem after you start taking the medication, call
your doctor or go to a hospital immediately you may have been given the wrong medication. Keep track of your medications, the name, dosage and how often you take it. An innocent error may cause you your life! Remember: It's your life take charge today!!! Jim Hogan co-founded My Medical CD ( [http://www.MyMedicalCD.com] http://www.MyMedicalCD.com). By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=James_Taylor]James Taylor Is getting a loan for various works such as improvements on your house becoming difficult because of your bad credit record? Well, need not to worry on that front any more as you can avail bad credit personal loans easily now. Such borrowers get bad credit personal loans despite their adverse reputation, provided they fulfill some primary conditions. If you have collateral to put with the lender then half of your problems of having bad credit are solved. Any property like your house, car or even bank account serves well the purpose of collateral. Bad credit personal loans are even easier to avail if the easily saleable collateral like automobile is offered to lenders. Value of the collateral also makes the loan getting easier for people having bad credit score. Lenders do not have any problem in offering the loan if the collateral is of higher value. Take the loan of a lesser amount as compared to the value of the property that you have put as collateral. This ensures a rapid approval of the loan. Also, the borrower does not feel the financial burden much when he opts for a lower amount loan. Lenders usually charge a very high interest rate on bad credit personal loans. This is because they need to cover financial risks. The borrowers, however, are able to extract a lower interest rate when they compare the interest rates of different lenders online. They can apply to the lender who has the most suitable interest rate package. To bad credit personal loan borrowers, lenders provide an amount in the range of 5000 to 75000. But, you should borrow a lower possible amount in order to lessen the burden of repayment and also it helps in getting the loan at lower interest rate. On the other hand, bad credit personal loans become very hard to get, in case the borrower fails to put any collateral with the lender. In the absence of the security the lender will charge very high interest rate. The borrowers financial capacity to repay the installments and the principal amount will count the most. Meanwhile, you must look for ways to improve your credit score. Try to eliminate easy debts so that your credit report and credit score gets better in the eyes of lenders. Bad credit personal loans come with certain hard conditions put by the lenders but still the loan can be availed with ease if one makes the efforts. Simple Guidelines to Losing Weight the Right Way

By Ziv Haparnas Obesity is a big problem in America and the world. Our life is filled with temptations cheap food and laziness. Unless we force ourselves to do sports most of us could live their lives without ever getting out of their chairs. We use elevators to get to our apartments or offices and cars to get from point A to point B. Walking and running are consider a sport or a hobby and are no longer means to get to our destination. The results are evident: putting those extra pounds on or just obesity. In this article we will give some simple rules to follow that can help in losing those extra pounds and keeping your body healthier. A word of caution: the views expressed in this article are in no way scientific or facts and the reader should observe caution when following them. The goal is to provide better understanding of why we grow fat and how the body can get rid of the extra pounds. Please consult with your physician before making any extreme changes to your diet or sport regime. So why do we add fat? The simple answer is that our body is genetically programmed to build energy reserves for bad times. Every day we consume energy calories and use energy. If we consume more than we use the body will convert the extra energy to fat which is the bodys way of reserving this energy for times when its needed. In the same manner when we consume less energy than we use each day the body will have to get the missing energy from its reserves by burning fat. In order to keep it simple we have ignored one important fact: the body has a choice when getting that extra energy: it can either use fat or muscle mass. Our genetic program always prefers to reserve fat for the worse times so if our body needs to get extra energy it will always prefer using muscles mass than using fat. You might have noticed people that go on extreme diets and in return seem to lose their muscle mass but keep their fat on mostly around the waistline this is exactly the reason why. The only way to force the body to use fat instead of muscle mass is by using the muscles and the way to use the muscles is to exercise. When we exercise and use our muscles the body program will assume that the muscles are needed for our daily survival and thus can not be compromised. In return the body will not use muscle mass as energy in fact the opposite is true the body will build extra muscle mass. In order to get the extra energy needed the body will use fat. So to conclude our discussion so far we can see that there are two facts we must understand: One is that the body builds fat when we consume more energy than we use and uses fat or muscle mass when we consume less energy than we use. The other is that in order to make sure that body uses fat and not muscle mass for extra energy we must exercise. Taking these two facts into account you can see that any diet will consist of both exercising and making sure we consume less calories than we use. If we exercise but at the same time consume too many calories the body will still have extra energy and will convert it to fat. It is also important to make sure that our body gets the right nutrition and not just the right amount of calories. Make sure that your diet includes vegetables low fat meats such as fish and poultry and proteins from sources such as eggs and milk. Eat in moderation and use common sense you do not need to read a book to know that deep fried food is not good for you and that a chicken salad is better than a cheeseburger. Most of us can make a good judgment of what food is good for us but many of us just choose to ignore that judgment. To conclude in order to shed those extra pounds off and to keep a proportionate body and muscle mass remember to exercise regularity eat in moderation and try to avoid the bad food and most importantly consume less calories than you use every day. 5 Tips to Finding the Best Bad Credit Credit Card

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Joshua_Shapiro]Joshua Shapiro Bad credit can sometimes feel like the end of the world, but it doesnt have to be. There is now a wealth of credit options, such as credit cards, out there for people with bad credit. Sure, you may not have all the options when it comes to terms and percentage rates, but at least you will have a way to build your credit back up to ultimate personal freedom. 1. Visit Your Local Credit Union One of the best things you can tell someone with damaged, or bad, credit is to visit their local credit union. These bank-like institutions may be more than likely to extend you a card if you belong to a particular community, civic organization, union, or other social group. 2. Explore Your Alternatives Another good option is to explore alternative credit card companies, such as gas company cards, department store cards, and newer card companies. These will help you not only organize your finances. They will also help you slowly build up the credit you need to get a card from one of the big credit companies. 3. Get a Buddy to Co-Sign If you still have no luck securing a card, dont give up yet. Try to see if you could have a friend or relative be a co-signer on a card. Basically, theyre agreeing to shell over the cash you owe if you default on your payments, an agreement that tends to make creditors feel a bit more comfortable. Hopefully, of course, it wont come to that. Also, check out secured credit cards. With these newer type cards, you set up your own credit limit by putting that exact dollar amount in a savings account. Basically, its like betting on your own good debt behavior. 4. Shop Around There is a fast and furious market out there for your business. Credit cards like anything else are all about getting new customers and making money, so it stands to reason that there will be a lot of selection out there to choose from. That means, put bluntly, dont jump on the first "yes" offer. Shop around. 5. Reality Check Then again, you will have all of these card offersbut dont expect any one to blow you away. Compared to regular credit cards, bad credit credit cards wont have the best rates, APRs, penalties, annual fees, or credit limits. For instance, your credit limit may only begin at $500, and late fees may blow your socks off. Joshua Shapiro recommends Find Credit Cards to find the [http://www.findcreditcards.org/type/bad-credit.php]best bad credit card for you.
